In the 19th century, Wilfrid Scawen Blunt and his wife Lady Anne scoured the Middle East to import Arab horses to their stud at Crabbet Park and therefore played a vital role in the success of the breed. Photonews were the official photographers of the AHS in the mid 50's through to the mid 70's

We are pleased to confirm the acquisition of the Photonews archive. The late Gillian Lancaster had acquired the archive from Alexander Heriot and had left it to Jackie Givens and Danna Gowans with the wish that it should remain in the UK and be of benefit to those interested in the Arabian horse. We are grateful to Jackie and Danna for entrusting the archive to Crabbet-Heritage where it will be treasured and the images made available to the public once again.
Photonews images have been used in many books and other publications on the Arabian horse. Once we have catalogued the hundreds of images we have of the many Crabbet and Old English horses, we will be displaying them on www.crabbet-heritage.com and may make them available for general sale in the future.
The images will also be available for viewing at our new Heritage Centre, to be built in the UK during 2018.
