The Swift Runner, published  by George Allen & Unwin Ltd, London, is another of Lady Wentworth's books, this First Edition was published in 1957, sadly also the year of Lady Wentworth's death.

 

This book discusses the origins of the Arab horse, strains, hot and cold blood, the origins of the English race horse, the classic Arabian foundation Breed and standard Arabian Type and Points, which the Arab Horse Society used as its breed standard for many years. The book contains several pictures of Crabbet horses including Oran, Grand Royal and others, along with Part Breds and Ponies such as Pretty Polly by Naseel. It also includes the picture of Rosemary Archer aboard her friends Anglo Arab Mizraq (bred by Rosemary) with Lady Wentworth congratulating her win at Roehampton.

 

The format is Lge 4to. 148pp. Fully illustrated, including colour plates. In red boards with red pictorial 

original Dust Jacket and protective sleeve. Slight edge wear/loss to wrapper but a very good copy.

Boards and spine are good. Page block and pages are clean with no annotations.
